The WHWTCGA hosted its' 11th Specialty Show on Sunday, April 15, 2007, in Perry, Georgia. Shirley Jolly drew this year's theme "All Roads Lead to Perry." And that is exactly what happened! Exhibitors came from Tennessee, Louisiana, New Jersey, Texas, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia. All entries were supported by an enthusiast crowd of club members and well wishers. On Friday evening, we kicked off the weekend with hospitality at the Best Western Hotel. Laurie and Vic Spigener provided a wonderful time for everyone to meet and connect. Our out of state exhibitors were able to meet club members and experience true southern hospitality. The Swanson House was the gathering place for Saturday evening. This was the third year we have reserved a small place where members and guests share stories from A-Z over wonderful southern cooking. Show committee workers were honored with leather pieces from the same line as our 2007 trophies. Our last chance to relax before the big show on Sunday! Sunday, we were fortunate to have our own Julie Payne to step in as a ring steward for Nancy Guilfoil, our Sweeps Judge, and Seymour Weiss, Regular class Judge. Julie even spent Saturday working with the Dixie Stewards to learn about this important function. Judge Guilfoil had a wonderful class of puppies - she loved them all! But she ultimately chose McAmis'Smooth Operator (9/25/2006) owned by Julie & Amos Smith. Best of Opposite Sex went to KC's Yeah I'm That Good (8/24/2006) owned by Taylar Zehnder and Bonnie West. The regular class went before the watchful eye of Seymour Weiss. Taking care to observe and examine each entry, he ultimately awarded Best of Breed to CH Den-Marc's Chain Reaction (5/25/04) owned by Debbie Willis Saucier & Denise and Marc Collins. Best of Opposite and Best of Winners went to Colonial Doon McDuff Ms Rich (12/5/05) owned by Joan Giancola and Betty Williams. Judge Weiss gave an Award of Merit to CH Rock n' Rowe's Bobby McGee (11/19/03) owned by Dr. Fred Askin and Jane Rowe. We received so many positive comments! Our out of state exhibitors were truly amazed with the hospitality and thoughtfulness put into every aspect of the show. The show comes together via a network of extremely dedicated club members - Many thanks to all of you: Kristine Terrar, Sue Pattillo, Al Pattillo, Dana Hall, Marilyn Buffaloe, Shirley Jolly, Julie Payne, Donna Wensink, Laurie & Vic Spigener, Ellen Meyer, Jim Stephenson, and Fran Stephenson. Thanks to the club members who came and supported all of us - Sandra Cartee, Amy and Matt Lantinga. In 2008, the show chair will be Dana Hall. I know that she will bring her love of Westies and her experience as an exhibitor to make the event even better!
