Our Annual West Highland White Terrier Specialty Show in Perry Georgia is on Sunday, April 12th
at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter in Perry, Georgia with the Combined Specialty Clubs
of Georgia.
This year the grooming area will be in the Sheep Barn. The show will be in the late morning with
hospitality during.
This year’s specialty theme, “Gone with the Westies,” celebrates the 70th anniversary of the release of
Gone With the Wind. Club member Shirley Jolly is the artist who created the wonderful original artwork
depicting the theme.
The Judges are:
Sunday is not the only day that the Westies will be strutting their stuff. The Conformation
shows begin on Thursday and continue Friday and Saturday leading up to our Specialty on Sunday. We will
post the times Westies will show on these days as well. In addition, there are performance events;
Agility, Rally and Obedience Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
But the attractions don’t stop there. There are flyball competitions that must be seen to believe.
Dogs actually cheer each other on! Then the shopping is the best you can find for your canine friends.
Blocks of rooms have been reserved for Westie club members and exhibitors at two hotels. The main host
hotel is the New Perry Hotel (478-987-1000). The second hotel with a block of rooms reserved for us is
America’s Best Inn (478-987-4454).
The banquet will be held Saturday, April 11th at The Swanson House.
Please reserve your place today.
The typical number of Westies involved in the Specialty competitions is triple from normal shows in
our area so it is a great opportunity to see our breed standard in action. It is also a great time to
meet Westie lovers from all over the country as breeders from as far away as California have attended.
