Tara Voight

The lovely owner of Dave and Michelle Voight

Tara was adopted by Michelle and Dave Voight in April '05. Her previous owners had a health set back. Tara had obviously been well cared for and loved and we're sure it broke her owners heart to have to give her up.

Tara had not been around other dogs before so she was sent to Jane Fink for a behavior assessment. She was used to being the center of attention after all! Jane did notice some behavior issues, but nothing that couldn't be overcome with the right owners. Brenda Hemphill called Michelle with the good news that there was a dog available, and forwarded on Jane's observations so we would be prepared for possible problems. Tara fit in with our household immediately! She get's along fine with our other Westie Heather (9 1/2 yrs) even though Heather is a "Daddy's girl",as long as Dave doesn't give Tara more attention than Heather, or Heather's perception that she's getting more. Tara actually has become Michelle's "white shadow" and we bonded immediately.

Tara was quite overweight from living a sedentary lifestyle so mission one was to get her in shape! Luckily her hunting instincts are very strong and she spends hours on end chasing squirrels off our bird feeders and running in the yard with great joy on her face. In under a month Tara now has a waist, rock hard terrier thighs, and we can actually feel ribs where there once was so much padding that even her Doctor shook her head. She now has a true terrier physique and a perfect forever home! We're all so very happy!
